The 89th Annual Academy Awards Winners List


Walau berhasil keluar sebagai film dengan raihan kemenangan terbanyak, film musikal arahan Damien Chazelle, La La Land, harus mengalah terhadap Moonlight yang akhirnya dinobatkan sebagai Best Picture di ajang The 89th Annual Academy Awards. Dalam seremoni yang diwarnai banyak pernyataan politis tentang kepemimpinan Presiden Amerika Serikat, Donald Trump, serta kesalahan pemberian amplop pengumuman nama pemenang Best Picture kepada pasangan aktor dan aktris Warren Beatty dan Faye Dunaway – yang menyebabkan Beatty dan Dunaway mengumumkan La La Land sebagai peraih Best Picture, film arahan Barry Jenkins tersebut juga berhasil memenangkan dua penghargaan lain, Best Actor in a Supporting Role untuk Mahershala Ali dan Best Adapted Screenplay yang dimenangkan Jenkins bersama penulis naskah, Tarell Alvin McCraney. Kemenangan Moonlight juga menjadi bersejarah karena film tersebut menjadi film bertema Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning pertama yang berhasil memenangkan Best Picture.

Meskipun begitu, para penggemar La La Land semestinya tidak berkecil hati. Selain berhasil memenangkan Best Director untuk Chazelle, film yang meraih nominasi di 14 kategori tersebut juga berhasil memenangkan lima kategori lainnya, termasuk Best Actress in a Leading Role untuk Emma Stone. Selain Moonlight dan La La Land, film-film lain yang berhasil meraih lebih dari satu penghargaan adalah Hacksaw Ridge (Mel Gibson, 2016) dan Manchester by the Sea (Kenneth Lonergan, 2016) yang sama-sama berhasil memenangkan dua kategori.
