Online Film Critics Society – sebuah perkumpulan jurnalis dan kritikus film yang berbasis internet terbesar di dunia, dimana penulis At the Movies, Amir Syarif Siregar, juga tergabung di dalamnya – baru saja mengumumkan daftar nominasi untuk The 15th Annual Online Film Critics Society Awards. Film karya Terrence Malick, The Tree of Life, memimpin daftar perolehan nominasi dengan meraih sebanyak 7 nominasi, termasuk di kategori Best Picture, Best Director (Terrence Malick), Best Supporting Actor (Brad Pitt) dan Best Supporting Actress (Jessica Chastain). Mengikuti dibelakangnya adalah Drive yang meraih enam nominasi termasuk di kategori Best Picture dan Best Director (Nicolas Winding Refn) walaupun harus gagal menempatkan aktor utamanya, Ryan Gosling, ke dalam nominasi Best Lead Actor.

Perebutan menuju gelar film terbaik untuk tahun 2011 semakin diperhangat dengan diumumkannya nominasi The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards, malam ini. Untuk tahun ini, The Artist memimpin daftar perolehan nominasi setelah film asal Perancis tersebut berhasil meraih 6 nominasi termasuk nominasi di kategori Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical. Raihan The Artist tersebut diikuti oleh The Descendants yang memperoleh 5 nominasi serta The Ides of March, Midnight in Paris, The Help dan Moneyball yang sama-sama meraih 4 nominasi. Sementara itu, film karya Martin Scorsese, Hugo, berhasil meraih 3 nominasi termasuk untuk Best Motion Picture – Drama dan Best Director.

Bahkan seorang Santa Claus tidak mampu menolak fakta bahwa kemajuan teknologi dapat membantu dalam kesehariannya… termasuk dalam tugas vitalnya untuk membagikan seluruh bingkisan yang ia miliki untuk para anak-anak yang telah berkelakuan baik selama satu tahun terakhir di seluruh penjuru dunia. Setidaknya begitulah yang digambarkan oleh Arthur Christmas. Berkat anaknya yang paling tua – dan kini sedang bersiap untuk menggantikan posisinya, Steve (Hugh Laurie), pria yang saat ini sedang menjabat posisi sebagai Santa Claus (Jim Broadbent) telah mengadopsi teknologi canggih yang mampu membuatnya dan sekelompok besar pembantunya untuk menghantarkan setiap bingkisan yang ia miliki kepada setiap anak di seluruh dunia dengan tepat waktu sebelum masa perayaan Natal dimulai. Namun, seiring dengan waktu, pemanfaatan teknologi tersebut membuat masa pembagian bingkisan-bingkisan tersebut menjadi kurang berkesan… dan hanya sekedar menjadi sebuah tugas dan kewajiban belaka. Kini, bagi sang Santa Claus sendiri, Natal tak lebih dari sekedar sebuah roda bisnis yang harus ia jalani.
